All-Star Season

MVGS All-StarS 2024

MVGS has a highly successful and competitive All-Star program. The league’s focus is to assemble the best overall teams for All-Star play in the 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U divisions.

Interested players are ranked by all MVGS Spring Rec Managers based on overall skill, attitude, dependability, dedication, sportsmanship, and experience. The MVGS All-Star Managers then form the Gold and Silver teams based on the rankings, among other criteria. Although previous experience may be considered, prior participation on an All-Star and/or Select team does not guarantee placement on any future team. This is an exciting opportunity, but it also requires a time and financial commitment from both the player and her family.

Please noteIF SELECTED and your daughter declines to play, she will NOT be eligible for Select or All-Stars the following year.

Time Commitment: The time commitment for the All-Star season typically lasts from early May to the end of June, with the possibility of teams playing until the beginning of August. Practices are held during the week and can be on the weekends, at the Manager’s discretion. The first day of All-Star practices may begin after the MVGS End of Season Tournament. The first tournament is the weekend of May 17, 2024. Most local tournaments will also begin with play on Friday evening.

Financial Commitment: The minimum financial commitment involved in All-Stars will be roughly $600-$700 per player. The cost covers tournament fees, uniforms, and may cover an equipment bag and helmet (for first-time MVGS All-Star players or players who need new All-Star equipment). Additional items, such as spirit wear, may be purchased at your own expense. Overnight stays may be necessary for at least one of the tournaments, which is not included in the above cost per player. Teams may also be asked to procure a team sponsor and/or to fully participate in all All-Star fundraisers, especially if any specific team advances beyond Districts. The total cost for the All-Star season can easily run as high as $1,000 or more.

The All-Star Goal: This is competitive play and winning is the primary goal. Participation in All-Stars is a privilege. Your daughters are exposed to a higher level of competitive play and will receive far more instruction than during our recreational season. That said, playing time and positions are not guaranteed and there is no requirement for minimum at-bats or innings played. While some players may prefer one position to another, it is important to recognize that all positions are critical to the team’s success, and the Manager will assign them accordingly.

We expect our players and parents to act in a way that brings respect and dignity to Mission Viejo Girls Softball.

On behalf of the Board Members, thank you for your support of Mission Viejo Girls Softball.
