MVGS Fall Ball Program

FALL SELECT:

• Practices: 2-3 per week
• Games: 2 games (double-header) every Saturday or Sunday. They can be in Mission Viejo or any of the other 13 Federation league members’ locations. All are within Orange County.
• Timing: Practices begin Aug 1, with games running from Sept till November.
• Tournaments: For 8U there are 2 each tournaments. All other age divisions have 3 tournaments. Some teams do extend their seasons by entering non-Federation tournaments that could be anywhere in the South West USA.
• Competitiveness: The age divisions are divided into a Gold (A) and a Silver (B). Gold is made up of at least half the roster being All-Stars, many being district All-Stars. While the Silver division does have many All-Stars, not all girls are All-Stars
• Selection Process: All coaches must have coached in the spring (head and or assistant coach) and submit approval. Once the coaches are approved, they will “select” girls from the spring rec league for their team. As a player, you could be asked by several coaches to commit to their team. It is as much your choice as it is the coach’s. Due to the limited number of teams, not all girls will be “selected.”

FALL RECREATIONAL:

• Practices: Once per week. At times an additional NON-mandatory practice could be scheduled, i.e. batting cages.
• Games: 1 game every Sunday
• Timing: Practices begin mid August, with games running from mid Sept till November.
• Tournaments: No tournaments scheduled.
• Competitiveness: Teams are represented from the 6 southern Federation leagues. The league is competitive, but still offers girls with other time commitments to be able to participate.
• Selection Process: We will make every attempt to put every girl on a team. Coaches are not required to have coached in the spring, but they will still go through an approval process. The program is for 8U, 10U, and 12U age appropriate players. Some 6U players that are age appropriate to move up to 8U the next spring can be considered. Participation in the past spring league is not required.
